Social Media Policy

Introduction

This policy explains how our association uses social media and applies to all members of our association.

Details of the social media used by our association

The PTA uses Facebook and Instagram.

You can see this here: Facebook and Instagram

Access to the social media used by our association

The PTA Facebook and Instagram presence is an open page.  This means it can be accessed by any Facebook user without permission being given by the PTA.  This page also accepts postings from any Facebook user, again without permission being needed from the PTA.

Permitted members

The Facebook group of the PTA is only intended for members of the association, in this case the parents and teachers of Claremont Primary school but not limited to this.

Please note that pupils at the school are not usually regarded as PTA members and as such are not encouraged to make use of the PTA social media pages but are not limited in doing so.

The PTA does not want to encourage inappropriate use of social media by anyone.

How this is used by our association

Facebook and Instagram page is primarily used by the PTA for the running of the association.  It is used to communicate with members, promote events or elements of events, to recruit volunteers to support the PTA’s activities, thank local supporters and canvass members’ views.

Usage that is not permitted

The PTA social media does not allow any personal correspondence between members, is not intended for discussing any aspect of the school other than the PTA and its activities and should not be used to promote any business other than where this is done for the benefit of the PTA and with its permission.  Inappropriate posts, including any derogatory comment, can and will be removed by the administrator and the PTA retains the right to ban any user who continues to make inappropriate use of the group.

Photographs & Videos

PTA events may involve taking photographs or videos for promotional or memory purposes. Consent will be sought from parents/carers before the PTA use any images or videos of children on their social media and otherwise and only be used in accordance with the PTA Privacy Policy.

The PTA Facebook and Instagram are open accounts and such allow members to post images or videos.  However, it is explicitly assumed that anyone posting will own the rights to the image or video and will have the permission of anyone featured to do so.  The PTA accepts no responsibility regarding ownership or permissions for any photographs or videos posted by members of the group.

The PTA respectfully request for photographs or videos of children taken by anyone attending PTA public events should not be shared on personal social media or other public platform without appropriate consent.

Application of this policy

Any member viewing or posting or commenting on the PTA Facebook and Instagram pages is thus accepting the terms of this policy.  If you do not agree with any of the terms, please remove your following from all the PTA social media pages.
